The Philosophy of the Pause: Notes on Faith and Scent

I’ve been quiet lately.

It wasn't a planned sabbatical or a curated "digital detox." It was simply a choice to lean into the very philosophy this brand was built on: intentionality.

For the last few months, my focus shifted from the "hustle" to the "in-betweens." It has been a season of practising faith and patience—learning to sit with life as it is, rather than rushing toward what I think it should be.

The Routine of the Real

While the studio remained a place of discovery, much of my "wellness" lately hasn't been found in a bottle or a flame. It has been found in the quiet repetition of the everyday: perfecting school runs, finding rhythm in the morning rush, and learning that presence is often found in the most mundane moments. I’ve spent hours discovering new scents, not with the pressure to launch them, but with the simple joy of experiencing them.

Against the January "Reset"

We are told that January is a month for "newness"—a loud, demanding period filled with the pressure to instantly reset our lives. But I’ve found that true transformation rarely happens at a sprint.

In the middle of the noise, I want to offer a different perspective: permission to breathe.

Rest over Rush

As I begin to share what I’ve been working on again, my hope is that it reaches you from a place of true rest rather than rush. MAYOWA SAMUEL has always been about a mindful approach to immediate wellbeing, and that starts with the hands that craft the products.

Whatever your January looks like—whether you are in a season of high output or quiet reflection—I hope you find a pocket of stillness today.

Let us value the "in-between" moments as much as the milestones.

With love,

Mayowa Samuel
